The Braintree dentists at Pinnacle Dental Aesthetics are modern practitioners of an ancient science. In antiquity, the Egyptians recorded dental procedures as early as 3700 BC and, while those techniques would be barbarous by today’s standards, they remain the foundation of what we now call dentistry.

Pierre Fauchard, a French physician, penned the first book detailing dental sciences and is known today as the Father of Modern Dentistry. Published in 1728, Le chirurgien dentiste, goes into great detail about oral anatomy, oral pathology, and treatments for things such as tooth decay, gum disease, and even malocclusion.

Of course, we have come a long way since the days of Fauchard. However, while modern advancements in technology and techniques enable our dentists to safely and effectively protect and perfect smiles, we owe a debt of gratitude to those noble scientists who preceded us and lit the way to optimal oral health.
