How Long Does the Dental Implant Process Take?

Serving Patients from Boston, Braintree, Weymouth, Quincy & Nearby Areas of Massachusetts

The actual placement of your dental implants takes very little time and is accomplished during a single office visit with one of our Boston area implant dentists. However, once placed, your implant will need to be accepted into your jawbone before it can be restored with replacement teeth. This process can take four to six months.

During your implant dentistry consultation, we will be happy to discuss this process with you in more detail.

Osseointegration

Osseointegration is the process by which your jawbone integrates with and forms an attachment to the titanium implant. It is this process that allows dental implants to offer the strongest and most secure hold for your restorations.

Barring disease or severe trauma, the process of osseointegration will allow your implant to last for a life-time.

While it may seem like a long time to wait, four to six months is negligible when compared to the longevity of dental implants.
